Hi, I'm Nena! Named after the fabulous 80s hit "99 Red Balloons" I came into this world with a soft heart and full of opinions... even if I was too shy to voice them at times. You'll learn all about my affinity for animals and tree-hugging from an early age as you follow my blog.
I love Rufus Wainwright, scrapbooking, running, cheesy Broadway musicals, photography, antiques, procrastinating... and am an absolute Beatles fanatic!
I grew up in/around Regina, Saskatchewan and although I curse and grumble about the cold weather every winter (and fall, and spring... and sometimes summer), I really really love it here! I love the awesomely supportive natural parenting community here, I love the Cathedral area (more on that later), and I love being so ridiculously close to my fabulous family!
I am currently working toward becoming a certified labour Doula and childbirth educator.

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2006 and met my wonderful husband shortly thereafter.
We married the following year in a lovely little town called American Fork, Utah.
Moved to Edmonton, Alberta... moved back to Regina... and then 8 months later after an extremely uncomfortable pregnancy filled with difficulties we got this cute little Christmas gift:
Jude Michael. He is my angel-haired, blue-eyed, snuggle bug. And I love him to bits and itty bitty pieces.
After having Jude I suffered from severe postpartum mood disorder, from which I am still recovering. I have been blessed with tremendous support and love from family and friends and I hope I am able to reach others who may be suffering from this debilitating condition and don't know where to turn.
And we just recently had the second addition to our little family:
Sadie Yvonne, who was born by "emergency" cesarean (more on that later). Isn't she sweet? Those eyes could melt even the coldest heart!
I have been blogging since 2003. Naturally Nena has been around since 2009, and was completely remodeled in early 2011 with a more apparent focus. My life is pretty fab, and this blog will follow my journey through the sometimes intimidating/confusing/crazy world of parenting; my struggles dealing with my illness; the joys and challenges of living "Naturally"... as well as throwing in a few other highlights along the way. Sometimes things around here may be serious, sad, and straightforward. Other times they will be light-hearted, sunny, and full of laughs. Either way, I will try my best to present my life as it really is and hopefully will inspire you to reflect on what is truly important.
